Mae ychydig o ddryswch wedi bod dros y blynyddoedd diwethaf am ba hyd a phryd y dylid cadw plat sal i ffwrdd o’r ysgol. Mae’r wefan ddefnyddiol yma yn rhoi cyngor am sut i drin a delio gyda afiechydon plentyndod cyffredin.
Diwrnod Diri
Unwaith pob hanner tymor bydd yr ysgol gyfan yn cymryd rhan mewn ‘Diwrnod Di-Ri’. Dyma gyfle i blant cydweithio gyda disgyblion eraill yn yr ysgol a chymryd rhan mewn gweithgareddau pwrpasol a hwylus. Bydd y sesiynau yn gymysg o sgiliau fel coginio, drama, celf, lles, addysg gorfforol a pheirianneg. Bydd y rhain yn newid pob hanner tymor gyda themâu gwahanol.
Mae’r ‘Diwrnod Di-Ri’ cyntaf ar Ddydd Mawrth y 25.03.25. Bydd angen dillad ac esgidiau cyfforddus ar y plant. Bydd y plant yn mynd i’r dosbarth arferol i gofrestru a dewis cinio fel arfer ac wedyn yn symud i’r gweithgareddau.
Lles Emosiynol a Iechyd Meddwl
Mae holl ysgolion Torfaen yn cymryd rhan mewn rhaglen o hyrwyddo lles a iechyd meddwl. Mae rhan o hyn yn golygu cysylltu gyda teuluoedd i asesu ein darpariaeth bresennol.

Trwynau Coch
Roedd pawb yn edrych yn anhygoel heddiw yn eu gwisgoedd Trwynau Coch. Diolch yn fawr i bob teulu am yr ymdrech aeth i mewn i’r gwisgoedd.
Cerddoriaeth Gwent
Ar ol y y Pasg bydd taliadau am wersi cerddorol yn cael eu gwneud yn uniongyrchol i Gerddoriaeth Gwent.
Gofynnwn yn garedig i rieni yn gyntaf i dalu hyd at ddiwedd y tymor yma trwy Civica Pay os gwelwch yn dda.

Dear Parent / Guardian,
When to keep your child off school
Over the last few years a few mixed messages have been shared with families as to what illnesses should lead to children being kept off school and for how long.
This useful website gives guidance on how best to deal with common childhood illnesses.
Diwrnod Diri
Once every half term, the whole school will take part in ‘Diwrnod Di-Ri’. This is an opportunity for children to collaborate with other pupils and join in purposeful and fun activities. During these sessions, pupils will take part in cookery lessons, drama workshops, art, wellbeing and PE sessions and science, technology and engineering activities. These will change each half term and work on different topics.
The first ‘Diwrnod Di-Ri’ will take place on Tuesday 25.03.25. Pupils will need comfortable shoes or trainers. The children will go to their classes as usual in the morning for registration and to choose their lunch and then move on to their activities.
Whole School Approach to Emotional and Mental Well-Being
All schools in Torfaen have signed up to a Whole School Approach to Emotional and Mental Well-Being.
Part of this work is to engage with families to see how the school is doing and how we can support with emotional and mental wellbeing.
As this is a starting point survey we expect to find a lot of gaps so please don’t worry if you are scoring the school low.

Red Nose day
All of our pupils looked fabulous today dressed in their 80s and Red Nose Day costumes.
Well done to all pupils and their families for the effort that was put in to such fantastic costumes.
Eisteddfod yr Urdd
We have had a number of pupils performing at Urdd Eisteddfod prelim rounds over the last week. A big well done to Evelyn, Maisie, Jake and Calan who performed brilliantly at the reciting and singing competitions last Saturday.
A really big well done to Neveah who was the winner of the regional round in clog dancing. Neveah will now perform at the Urdd Eisteddfod in Margam in May.
Gwent Music
After Easter payments for music lessons should be made directly to Gwent Music. Please follow the instructions below.
Can all families please ensure they have paid for this term on Civica Pay before we break up for Easter.
1. Go to www.gwentmusic.co.uk
2. Click on ‘click here for enrolment”
3. If you already have a Gwent Music Parent Portal account then login as usual
otherwise click “Create an Account” and follow the instructions.
4. At the top of the screen, in the menu bar, click on ‘Enrol’
5. Select your activity by clicking on ‘Enrol’ under ‘School Direct Tuition’.
6. Type in “Bryn” into the search field and click ‘Find Schools’
7. Click on “Ysgol Bryn Onnen”
8. Select the instrument your child would like to learn, then either click on your child’s
name or complete your child’s details.
9. Select your preferred start date and pricing option, then click proceed.
10. Tick the box to agree to the Terms and Conditions and click submit.
11. Your child will automatically be placed on the waiting list and you will receive an e-mail to confirm this.
12. Once your child has been offered a place, you will receive an e-mail with further
instructions to accept the offer and make a payment.
