Blwyddyn Newydd Dda i holl deuluoedd a ffrindiau Ysgol Bryn Onnen. Gobeithio i bawb fwynhau y gwyliau ac edrychwn ymlaen at flwyddyn gyffrous yn 2025.

Dear Parent / Guardian,
Happy New Year
Happy New Year to all of Ysgol Bryn Onnen’s families and friends. I hope you all had a restful and fun-packed holiday and that you are all looking forward to a fantastic new year in 2025.
There are two particular things for us at Ysgol Bryn Onnen to look forward to this year.
We learnt before Christmas that the plans to redevelop the school will re-start. It is likely that building work won’t start until 2026 but by the middle of the year we should have exciting drawings and plans of how our school will look in the future that we can share.
Also, in September we celebrate Ysgol Bryn Onnen’s 30th birthday. If anyone has any ideas about how we could celebrate this fantastic event, please let us know.
Girls’ Football
Penygarn and Trevethin Football Club are starting a girls Under 9s team. If your child is interested in joining, please contact the club through their Facebook page.
Eisteddfod
We will be holding our school eisteddfod on February 7th.
The closing date to enter pupils in the Urdd Eisteddfod is the following week. If your child would like to compete in the Urdd Eisteddfod in any singing, musical, dance or art competitions they will need to be registered as members of the Urdd (this needs to be renewed every school year).
Most Year 5 ad 6 pupils will be members from when they visited Llangrannog. Year 4 pupils will need to join before visiting Cardiff Bay in March.
The topic for this years art work is “Gwreiddiau” - “Roots”
There is a wide range of competitions that pupils can enter in the arts and crafts section. We will be creating work for some of them in school but pupils can also present home work for the arts and crafts competitions.
A list of the categories can be found here;
Categories include photography, IT, painting, collage, puppets and many others.
